TMS For Depression

TMS is most commonly used to treat major depressive disorder (MDD), also known simply as depression.

TMS is typically recommended for individuals who haven't found relief through medication and psychotherapy, a condition referred to as treatment-resistant depression, which affects about 30 percent of people with depression.

BrainWell Psychiatry offers TMS therapy for OCD.

TMS For OCD

The FDA approved TMS for OCD in 2018. TMS is recommended if a person with OCD hasn’t responded to medication and psychotherapy.

People with OCD often have excessive activity between the prefrontal cortex and striatum areas of the brain. This extra activity is associated with severe OCD symptoms.

TMS can be used to reduce some of the activity in this part of the brain, reducing the symptoms of OCD.

Research has found that many people respond to TMS therapy.

Is TMS Right For Me?

TMS Might be the right choice for you if you answer “YES” to any of the following:

  • Current medication doesn’t seem to be working

  • Side effects on your current medication

  • Have tried medications in the past that did not work

  • Only a partial response to medications

TMS therapy may be right for you if you are not getting full relief from their current medication.
